04 — Hydraulic Services (Fire)
Fire hydrants, sprinklers and hose reels are governed by unforgiving geometry: coverage distances, pressures, flows and valve locations that either work on your site or don't. QFS reviews these systems against the standards that control them and, where a site can't meet a prescriptive layout, prepares the Performance Solution that resolves it.
This work sits naturally beside our fire engineering: when hydrant coverage triggers a departure, the fire strategy and hydraulic answer are developed together — including consultation with the fire brigade whose crews will use the system.

What this service covers
- Fire hydrant system reviews against AS 2419.1 — coverage, feed arrangements and booster location
- Sprinkler system compliance reviews (AS 2118 suite) and adequacy assessments
- Fire hose reel coverage assessments (AS 2441)
- Water supply adequacy: pressures, flows, tanks and pumps at concept stage
- Performance Solutions for hydrant and sprinkler departures, with FRNSW consultation
- Design review of hydraulic consultants' documentation for compliance risk
Typical triggers
- Hydrant coverage that can't be achieved from the street main or within travel limits
- Booster assemblies that can't meet location or clearance rules
- Insufficient town main pressure or flow for the required system
- Existing buildings where the installed system predates current standards
What you receive
Documentation built to be approved.
- A compliance review identifying every departure and its resolution pathway
